Lipopolysaccharide/interferon-γ and not transforming growth factor β inhibits retinal microglial migration from retinal explant

Table 1

IL-10, IL-12, TNFα levels in explant culture supernatants, with and without IL-10 neutralisation

Culture conditions IL-10 IL-12 TNFα
Data represented are mean (SEM) of cytokine levels obtained after 48 hours of culture from a minimum of three experiments. Culture conditions include medium alone, IFNγ/LPS (activated), TGFβ, IFNγ/LPS + TGFβ, with and without anti IL-10 mAb. (Cytokine concentrations are pg/ml). Statistical comparisons were made following one way analysis of variance with an F test to allow multiple comparisons.
*IL-10 in medium alone versus activated; p = 0.0053.
IL-12 in medium alone versus TGFβ; p = 0.016, IL-12 in medium alone versus TGFβ (+anti IL-10); p = 0.03.
‡TNFα in medium alone versus activated; p = 0.029, TNFα in medium alone versus activated (+anti-IL-10); p = 0.003.
