Mycophenolate mofetil for the treatment of severe inflammatory external eye diseases

Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is a systemic immunosuppressive agent widely used to prevent solid organ transplant rejection. It has also been used to treat a variety of systemic autoimmune conditions.1–3 Several papers have described its use to treat predominantly posterior segment ocular inflammatory conditions.4–7 We have reviewed our experience using MMF to treat anterior segment conditions.

Case series

From our immunosuppression database and electronic patient records we identified patients in the hospital who had taken MMF to treat severe inflammatory external eye conditions.
