It is essential for hematopoietic stem cell survival, maintenance and development of B and T cells and embryogenesis, but on the other hand it is expressed abundantly in various types of cancer including leukemia/lymphoma and multiple myeloma and several non-hematopoietic cancers [2–11]. MCL-1 overexpression is also associated with cancer metastasis [7,8].
