2019, Vision ResearchCitation Excerpt :Nevertheless, no agreement between those measures is reported (Sailoganathan et al., 2018), confirming different sensitivity to crowding. Overall, there is currently no agreement to the best way to test VA in development that enables comparisons across different crowding conditions (Bailey & Lovie-Kitchin, 2013; Simons, 1983). Recently a new promising computerized tool with free access has been developed to assess acuity and crowding-limited size thresholds (Pelli et al., 2016).
The development of attentional resolution
2014, Cognitive DevelopmentCitation Excerpt :This prerequisite was obviously met in our study, resulting in stable performance for all age groups. Constant dynamic visual acuity is quite conceivable given that basic functions thought to be underlying the dynamic visual acuity – static visual acuity (Nakatsuka et al., 2006) and visual pursuit (Uchida, Kudoh, Murakami, Honda, & Kitazawa, 2012) – have already reached maturity by school age (Mayer & Dobson, 1982; Rütsche, Baumann, Jiang, & Mojon, 2006; Schrauf et al., 1999; Simons, 1983; Skoczenski & Norcia, 2002). Besides the obvious difference in developmental patterns for dynamic visual acuity and attentional resolution, the independence of the two factors is statistically underpinned by a lack of correlation between the two tasks.
