REFRACTIVE ERROR DIFFERENCES IN MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE
The neighbouring countries of Singapore and Malaysia appear to have a different prevalence of myopia. Myopia is more common in Singapore Malays, Chinese and Indians as compared to Malaysian Malays, Chinese and Indians. As the genetic makeup of these groups in Malaysian and Singapore are similar these data would seem to indicate environmental factors may contribute to the higher myopia rates in Singapore. See p 1230
MORAXELLA KERATITIS
A retrospective analysis of 95 cases of moraxella keratitis found that local ocular predisposing factors played a major part in initiating infection with moraxella. In this study the infection had a poor visual outcome attributable to both the nature of the infection and the predisposing factors. See p 1236
