Trifluorsiloxane is such a substance, and therefore its biological compatibility was investigated in rabbit eyes. It was found that this substance was clinically well tolerated within the observation time of up to 6 months, even if there was some neovascularisation from the inferior limbus. Histologically both an inflammatory response and tissue impregnation were more pronounced than with normal polydimethylsiloxane.
