Myopia is more common in Singapore Malays, Chinese and Indians as compared to Malaysian Malays, Chinese and Indians. As the genetic makeup of these groups in Malaysian and Singapore are similar these data would seem to indicate environmental factors may contribute to the higher myopia rates in Singapore.
