Reports of the first successful cases of FSL-assisted keratoplasty in patients with corneal disease were published in 2007 [13–15] and FSL has accrued the greatest number of treated eyes compared with excimer laser. For this reason, we focus on the use of the FSL for keratoplasty in this article.

However, since our patients manifest as a superficial variant of granular dystrophy type I, alcohol assisted phototherapeutic keratectomy was opted for to remove central epithelium in toto for histopathological analysis, followed by phototherapeutic keratectomy to remove deposits from anterior stroma.
