Case reports

Patients and control subjects from our department were enrolled in this study. Only 1 eye of each participant was included. The patients were divided into four groups as follows: 15 patients with no-DR (no-DR group), 10 patients with nonproliferative DR (non-PDR group), 10 patients with PDR with type 2 diabetes mellitus (PDR group), and 86 controls. The patients were put into the groups based on the findings of slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, fundus photography, and

Comments

The results of the current study demonstrate that the POBF in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is unchanged independent of the degree of retinopathy. Schmidt et al have reported that ocular pulse amplitude, a hemodynamic parameter reflecting choroidal blood flow, is unchanged in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.1 The total choroidal blood flow measured by POBF may remain unaffected as diabetes and DR develop and progress.

Using the original Langham OBF system, Langham et al reported
