Treatment of drusen-related aging macular degeneration by photocoagulation

Trans Am Ophthalmol Soc. 1988:86:276-90.

Abstract

This retrospective clinical study of the treatment of DR AMD by scatter pattern photocoagulation reveals a stabilization of vision and disappearance of drusen in 52% of 42 eyes followed for an average of 3 years. With the minimal risks involved, the benefit of temporary improvement or stabilization of vision in some eyes would make this technique worthy of further evaluation.
